Lauren S. Thurmond is the supervising partner of Foreclosures/Evictions with Hutchens Law Firm. Concentrating her practice on the default servicing mortgage industry, she represents substitute trustees, national mortgage lenders, servicers, and investors in foreclosure and creditors’ rights actions in North Carolina and frequently speaks at educational seminars and industry conferences for mortgage servicers throughout the country.
In 2016, she was selected by the American Legal & Financial Network (ALFN) JPEG Awards as a stand-out young professional to watch during the association's annual conference "ANSWERS."
Whether she's on the road visiting clients, attending conferences, working with the North Carolina Creditors Bar Association, participating as a panelist in on-site training sessions, or holding a leadership position as a partner with the firm, Lauren makes a significant impact on the mortgage service industry. She is described by her peers as a thoughtful leader who has built loyal, forward-looking teams who are committed to the firm's clients.
When asked about her leadership style, she says, "I think the key principle for any leader to remember is that leadership is an honor and a privilege, and disciplined leadership is doing the right thing no matter how difficult that may be. In my practice, being a person that my staff, colleagues, and clients can count on every time - no exceptions - to provide a thoughtful response or analysis of the issue at hand has been the most crucial part of my success as a leader. It takes time to earn and build credibility and trust, and an effective leader must lead with integrity. People will not follow someone they do not respect."
On the local front, she serves as a mentor in the Mecklenburg County Bar Association's "Lunch With a Lawyer" program for 8th-grade students who are interested in a legal career.
Lauren has been with the firm since 2012 and is located in the firm's Charlotte location.
